Please be advised that The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound intends to adopt the proposed 2026 Fees and Charges By-law, in accordance with subsection 391(1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25.

Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Canada Day in Owen Sound with two full days of free family entertainment along the beautiful waterfront of Kelso Beach at Nawash Park on June 30 and July 1.  Some limited sponsorship opportunities remain available until May 30 for businesses wishing to participate in one of the region’s largest summer celebrations.

The Owen Sound River District, Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound, Optimist Club of Sydenham & District, Owen Sound & District Junior Optimists, Scenic Cycle, and Owen Sound Police Services are proud to present the Wheel & Ride Safety Festival and Bike Program on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Take notice that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound has received an application for a Zoning By-law Amendment, being an application to amend Comprehensive Zoning By-law 2010-078, as amended pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended (the “Planning Act”) for lands located at 1201 15th Avenue East. This application is deemed to be a complete submission under Section 34(10.4) of the Planning Act.

Take notice that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound will hold a public meeting to consider Zoning By-law Amendment No. 58 on June 15, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City of Owen Sound, in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act.

The City of Owen Sound is inviting local heritage sites, museums, historic buildings, cultural spaces, places of worship, and community landmarks to take part in this year’s Doors Open event taking place on Saturday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The City of Owen Sound is notifying the public of an upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Event on Saturday, May 23.  This event will be held at the Public Works Facility (1900 20th Street East) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

With the Victoria Day long weekend beginning today, Owen Sound Fire Department is reminding residents to put safety first when using fireworks and sparklers. If you are planning a backyard display, please use caution and be considerate of your neighbours. 

Beginning Tuesday, May 19, City staff will remove the seasonal cross-street Noma lights over Second Avenue East and install seasonal banners, closing one block at a time to minimize the disruption to visitors and businesses in the River District. This is a strong sign that summer is on the way here in the Scenic City!
