Junior Firefighter Program
The Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services are excited to be hosting our Junior Firefighter Camp. The camp will be held on Thursdays starting in May 2025 and last for 5 weeks. The program is open to students in grades 5 or 6 in Owen Sound Schools.
Each Thursday, Junior Firefighters will learn and experience what it is like to be a firefighter. Each Junior Firefighter will receive a uniform T-shirt which will be worn for each of the 5 sessions. There is no charge for the program which will be from 6-730pm on Thursdays.
Junior Firefighters will participate in training that will consist of portable fire extinguishers, fire alarms, 911 dispatch, radio communication, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) use, personal protective equipment, hose lays, ladder use, elevating devices, first aid, pump operations and suppression techniques.
Registration will start March 2025. There is space for up to 40 participants.
