2025 Waste Management Calendar and New Waste Program Update Reminder
Owen Sound residents are reminded that due to the prior Canada Post strike, and the City’s efforts to reduce waste, printed 2025 waste calendars will have not been delivered by mail. Instead, the calendar is now available online at OwenSound.ca/Waste.
For those who prefer a paper copy, calendars can currently be picked up at:
- City Hall
- Owen Sound Transit Terminal
- Owen Sound and North Grey Union Library
Calendars are available at OwenSound.ca/Waste in an east-side-only version, a west-side-only version and a consolidated version that shows both east and west pick-ups.
New! In 2025:
Corrugated cardboard is now accepted in your regular bi-weekly blue box collection. To ensure proper collection, cardboard must be:
- Broken down to a maximum size of 24” x 18” x 6” (approximately the size of a carry-on suitcase).
- Bundled or placed in a container.
Recycling in Owen Sound remains a two-stream system, which means residents need to continue to sort their recyclables into:
- Containers (pop cans, glass jars, water bottles, etc.)
- Fibres (corrugated cardboard, paper, boxboard, etc.)
To make sure your recyclables are not rejected and diverted to the garbage stream at any point in the recycling process, please ensure all recyclables are clean before placing them in the blue box.
As part of the transition to the province-wide recycling program managed by Circular Materials Ontario (CMO), Miller Waste continues to be Owen Sound's recycling service provider. Residents with questions about recycling services can visit the Circular Materials website for Owen Sound at CircularMaterials.ca or contact Miller Waste directly at 519-372-1855.
Beginning in June of this year, Owen Sound’s waste management services will be enhanced with green bin (organics) collection. More details will be available in the Spring of 2025.
Residents can use the City’s online tools to identify their waste collection schedule, search by address, and find locations to purchase garbage bag tags. Visit OwenSound.ca/Waste for all waste management information.
For more information, please contact Heidi Jennen, Supervisor of Environmental Services, at 519-376-4440 ext. 3223 or email hjennen@owensound.ca.
