City of Owen Sound and Union CUPE 1189 Ratify New Agreement for Outside Workers

The City of Owen Sound is pleased to share that a new Collective Agreement between the City employees represented by CUPE 1189-01 and the City of Owen Sound has been ratified.

Both the union, which represents many of the City’s outside workers, and City Council have formally approved the terms of the new contract on April 2, 2025. The previous agreement expired on March 31, 2024, and the new agreement runs through to March 31, 2027.

This successful negotiation ensures the continued delivery of core services across Public Works, Parks and Cemetery Operations, as well as Water and Wastewater services.

The Collective Agreement is currently being updated with the negotiated changes.  This agreement includes a 6 per cent wage increase in 2024, followed by 3 per cent increases in both 2025 and 2026, along with limited monetary enhancements outside of wages.
