City of Owen Sound Launches Green Bin Colouring Contest for Young Creatives
The City of Owen Sound is inviting young artists to show off their creativity and celebrate the upcoming launch of the City’s Green Bin program with a fun and eco-friendly Green Bin Colouring Contest. Open to anyone under 18 who lives in or attends school in Owen Sound, the contest encourages youth to get creative while learning about the Green Bin program, the importance of composting and waste reduction.
Contest Details:
- Deadline to enter: Friday, May 30, 2025, at noon
- Who can enter: Children and youth under 18 who live in or go to school in Owen Sound
How to enter:
1. Pick up the official colouring page through your school, at City Hall or the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, or download it from the City’s website at OwenSound.ca/GreenBins.
2. Colour it in and submit a photo of your artwork online using the entry form on the City’s Green Bins webpage.
One lucky winner, chosen at random, will receive an exciting prize pack including:
- A City of Owen Sound swag bundle
- A season’s pass to Harrison Park Pool
- A composting starter kit for their class or school
- Their artwork featured on the City’s Green Bin webpage!
The winner will be announced during the week that Green Bin collection officially begins in June.

Quick Facts:
- Eligible households for the Green Bin program are residential properties with six or fewer units, excluding the River District area.
- The Green Bin colouring contest is open to children and youth under 18 who live in or go to school in Owen Sound – the colouring page is available at OwenSound.ca/GreenBins.
- The new Green Bin Collection will start the first week of June 2025.
