Don’t Miss Out on the First Goods Exchange Day of 2024 – This Year, Also Share Your Extra Plants and Flowers!

Goods Exchange Day diverts usable items and materials from landfill disposal. It is also a great way to get rid of unwanted stuff without the hassle of hosting a garage sale. 

City residents are invited to place unwanted but still usable items at the curb in front of their homes after 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. If you are looking for something, tour the city and pick up items you can reuse. 

Popular Goods Exchange Day items include sporting goods, furniture, small appliances, books, art, tools, toys, doors, sinks, windows etc. Anything that does not find a new home must be taken back inside by 6 p.m. 

This year, residents are also invited to share their surplus non-invasive plants and flowers, such as hostas, boxwood plants, and peonies. This opportunity allows gardeners to expand their gardens while minimizing waste and saving money. Everyone wins! 

To ensure that items at the curb are recognized as Goods Exchange Day items, we ask that residents tie a white plastic bag to one of the items at the curb. 

As always, residents are reminded to please drive carefully, watch for pedestrians, and obey traffic laws in their quest for curb side treasures.
