Fire in Multi-Unit Residential Building on 13th Street East

Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services quickly responded to a working fire in a multi-unit residential structure on 13^th Street East early Wednesday afternoon.  Responding first and second alarm crews contained the fire to one unit. 

The building in the 200 block of 13th Street East contains two dwelling units, and only one is currently occupied. The two residents of the dwelling unit were not home at the time of the fire. No injuries were sustained to occupants or firefighters due to the fire. Sadly, three beloved family pets (dogs) were found by firefighters to be deceased.

13^th Street East was closed for approximately three hours and has been reopened.

The fire started in the kitchen area and spread to the rest of the unit, causing significant damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $250,000.
