No More Guessing If You’ve Missed the Bus! Free Transit App Allows You to Get Live Updates for Where and When Your Bus Will Depart and Arrive with Owen Sound Transit
The City is excited to announce that Owen Sound Transit (OST) is now integrated with the Transit App, offering riders free access to real-time bus arrival information. Riders can conveniently check when their bus will arrive, whether they are using a computer or a mobile app.
The Transit app, which is free to download and use, provides updates as they become available, including any detours, relocated stops, cancellations, delays, or other route service changes. Riders can ensure they’re always up-to-date by subscribing to receive live service alerts.
To access information on available bus lines, routes, stop locations, expected arrival times (not real-time), and alerts, you can visit the Transit app webpage instead of downloading the app.
Key Features of the Transit App:
- Real-Time Bus Arrival Information: Users can easily track the real-time location of their bus, helping them plan their journey more efficiently. When using the app, look for a small bus icon to indicate live data for timing. If the bus icon isn't visible, it means the live feed might be temporarily unavailable, but you can still view the scheduled arrival time of the bus.
- Service Alerts Subscription: Riders can subscribe to receive service alerts directly from OST, ensuring they stay informed of any changes or disruptions to their route.
The app isn’t limited to just Owen Sound either. It is also used by other cities such as Toronto and London, offering commuters across different regions the same convenience and accessibility.
The City encourages all transit users to take advantage of these free resources to enhance their travel experience. For more information or to download the Transit app, visit the Transit App Website or download it from the App Store or Google Play Store. For quick guidance on how to use the app, please visit the Owen Sound Transit webpage for instructions and tips.
The City is also currently working with Google to integrate transit options into Google Maps, making travel even more accessible and convenient. More information will be shared as it is available.
