Owen Sound Invites Public Input to Help Plan the Future of Parks, Roads, and Facilities

Owen Sound residents are invited to take an online survey about the quality, reliability, and availability of City-owned infrastructure such as sports fields, playgrounds, roads, sidewalks, and community centres.

As part of the City’s ongoing Asset Management planning, community feedback on how public infrastructure is performing and where improvements may be needed is important to shaping the Proposed Levels of Service for each asset class. This feedback will help guide long-term decisions about how the City maintains and invests in key asset areas such as Parks and Open Spaces, Arenas and Recreation Centres, and the Road Network.

Levels of Service refer to the performance of infrastructure, measured by its quality, reliability, and availability:

  • Quality reflects the condition of the asset—for example, how smooth roads are or how well-maintained a recreation facility is.
  • Reliability is about consistency—such as whether an arena or facility is open as scheduled and functioning properly.
  • Availability refers to how accessible the asset is—whether parks are nearby and easy to access or whether roadways and facilities can handle demand at peak times.

It’s important to note that Levels of Service for this engagement are not about daily operations like snow removal schedules, the number of available staff, or garbage pickup frequency. Instead, the focus is on the infrastructure itself and the experience it delivers.

Residents are encouraged to complete the survey at OurCity.OwenSound.ca/AMP.  For any offline or different formats of the survey, please email communications@owensound.ca. The survey will remain open until Friday, May 2 at noon.  Public questions can also be asked through the online platform.
