Owen Sound Residents to Receive New or Updated Water Meters as City Enhances Services

The City of Owen Sound is initiating a city-wide Water Meter Replacement Project to upgrade aging residential water meters with advanced technology. The majority of the current water meters in Owen Sound's residential properties have reached the end of their operational lifespan. In response, the City is undertaking a mass replacement project to install new meters that will reduce the time required for meter readings, enable residents to monitor their water usage more effectively, detect possible leaks, and facilitate a potential transition to monthly billing.

The City has partnered with Neptune Technology Group, a trusted resource that has installed millions of water meters across the country, to carry out the installations.

Residents and property owners will soon receive letters notifying them to schedule their meter replacement appointments, and they are encouraged to do so promptly. Appointments are flexible and can be arranged to fit individual schedules. The installation process typically takes 30 to 90 minutes to complete. To facilitate a smooth installation, residents are advised to ensure that the area around the existing water meter is clear and accessible.
