Premier Doug Ford Visits Specialized Medical Isotope Packaging Company Stevcon in Owen Sound

Last Friday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford visited Stevcon Packaging & Logistics to tour its facilities and observe live demonstrations of isotope packaging testing processes.  

The Owen Sound-based company is at the forefront of packaging solutions. In particular, Stevcon’s expertise in isotope packaging is crucial for advancing medical technologies. By addressing the unique challenges of the Canadian medical isotope industry, Stevcon aims to contribute to the advancement of healthcare. 

The Premier’s visit highlights Owen Sound's strategic efforts to position itself as an open-for-business city actively seeking to attract more participants in the isotope supply chain sector. 

The City of Owen Sound is also a founding member of the Southwestern Ontario Isotope Coalition. Formed in June 2023, the Coalition is a partnership between regional leaders, including the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) and the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC). Through its activities, the Coalition aims to unite southwestern Ontario’s isotope community and foster future opportunities to leverage the region’s many strengths.
