Province Invests in Emergency Preparedness in Owen Sound

The provincial government is investing in local communities across Ontario to help them prepare and respond to natural disasters and emergencies. The new Community Emergency Preparedness Grant is part of the $110 million the government has earmarked over the next three years to strengthen emergency preparedness in Ontario.

In Owen Sound, a local investment of $49,775 will be used to purchase thermal drone equipment for emergency management. This equipment will strengthen the City’s emergency response to everything from floods to fires, enable more efficient search and rescue operations, and ultimately give our community the resources needed to keep residents safe.

The Community Emergency Preparedness Grant funding is supporting a total of 113 recipients across Ontario including municipalities, local services boards, First Nation communities, Tribal Councils, Indigenous service organizations and non-governmental organizations with mandates in emergency preparedness.
