Temporary Closure of Walking Trail at 5th Avenue and 17th Street East
The City of Owen Sound has temporarily closed the pedestrian “catwalk” trail at 5th Avenue East and 17th Street East due to safety concerns identified during a recent inspection. The trail sits on the east escarpment between Bayview Park and Timber McArthur Park and connects walkers to 4th Avenue East.
The closure will remain in place while necessary improvements are made. The City anticipates that the work will be completed and the trail reopened by the end of June 2025.
In the meantime, residents are encouraged to use the nearby trail access, which remains open and fully accessible just south at 5th Avenue East and 16th Street East, beside St. Mary’s Church.
The City thanks trail users for their understanding and cooperation to ensure the safety and enjoyment of Owen Sound’s outdoor spaces.
