Temporary Road Closures in River District for Cross-Street Banner Removal

Notice (updated Thursday, September 12): Due to unforeseen circumstances and equipment issues, the 900 and 1000 block of 2nd Avenue East will now be closing temporarily on the morning of Friday, September 13.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sections of 2nd Avenue East will be closed beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11th and Thursday, September 12th, to accommodate the removal of cross-street banners in the River District.  Each avenue block will be closed individually while staff are removing the banners, and opened as the work is completed.  Intersections and east-to-west streets will remain open.

Wednesday, September 11, 2024, beginning at 6:30 a.m. (completed by 10:30 a.m.): 

• 2nd Avenue East; 700 block
• 2nd Avenue East; 800 block

Thursday, September 12, 2024, beginning at 6:30 a.m. (completed by 10:30 a.m.)\:

• 2nd Avenue East; 900 block
• 2nd Avenue East; 1000 block

Businesses will remain accessible during their regular business hours throughout the closure periods. Municipal lots 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 are available as alternate parking options, as is on-street parking (where permitted) nearby.  Garbage and recycling pick up in the River District will remain as scheduled.

Please allow for additional travel time and consider alternate routes of travel where possible. All road users are reminded to remain alert and use caution when travelling through the area to ensure the continued safety of all roadway users.
