What’s Open & Closed in Owen Sound for Easter Weekend

It’s nearly time for the long Easter weekend and the City is reminding everyone of facility closures, modified hours, and alternate programming. Here is all you need to know to plan ahead so you can spend quality time with family and friends.  

City Hall: 

Closed Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1. Regular hours of operation resume at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2. 

Public Works:

Closed Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1. Regular hours of operation resume at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2. 

Transit:

Owen Sound Transit (OST) and Mobility Transit will be closed on Friday, March 29 and open on Monday, April 1. 

Guelph Owen Sound Transit (GOST) will remain operating its regular schedule every day. 

Waste Management:

The Transfer Station is closed on Friday, March 29 and open regular hours on Monday, April 1. 

There is no waste collection on Friday, March 29, as scheduled in the 2024 Waste Management Calendar. Instead, the Friday West side route will be picked up on Monday, April 1. 

Compost Site:

The Leaf & Yard Waste Compost Site will re-open for the season on Monday, April 1. 

Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library:

The library is closed on Friday, March 29, Sunday March 31, and Monday, April 1. It is open regular hours as of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2.  

Tom Thomson Art Gallery:

The gallery will be closed on Friday, March 29, and open regular hours on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery will be closed Sunday and Monday as usual. 

Recreational Facilities:

The Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre will be operating with regular hours on Friday, March 29, Sunday, March 31 and Monday, April 1. The facility will be closed on Saturday, March 30.  

The Bayshore Community Centre will be closed on Friday, March 29. It will be open regular hours Saturday March 30 through Monday, April 1. 

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is open on Friday, March 29 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s open Saturday, March 30 and Monday, April 1 with regular hours and closed on Sunday, March 31. 

Owen Sound Police Service:

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For non-emergencies, call 519-376-1234, and for emergencies, call 911. 

Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services:

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For non-emergencies, call 519-376-2512, and for emergencies, call 911. 

By-law Enforcement:

Complaints or questions can always be submitted online. Regular By-Law hours will resume on Tuesday, April 2 at 8:30 a.m.
