Information for Artists
Exhibition Proposals
The Tom Thomson Art Gallery carefully plans exhibitions to enrich the region and contribute to national visual arts discourse. We are currently programming exhibitions that align with the values and priorities outlined in our strategic plan, which include support to emerging artists and arts professionals, regional artists, truth and reconciliation, contemporary social justice topics, and the environment. Please note that exhibitions are generally planned at least 2 years in advance.
We accept proposals from established, mid-career, and emerging artists, curators, and collectives on an ongoing basis and curatorial staff review them twice yearly. If your application is short-listed, you will receive a response via email.
If you are interested in submitting an exhibition proposal, please provide the following information in a single PDF document:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- 5-10 images of relevant work with accompanying image list detailing artist name(s), titles, dates, medium, and dimensions
- A brief description of the proposed exhibition
- Any additional relevant material such as publications and/or critical reviews
- Artist and/or curator biography
Proposals can be submitted to:
Shannon Bingeman
Curator of Exhibitions & Collections
For proposals sent by mail, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your non-digital material returned. All submissions will be treated with care; however, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to submission material.
