July 5, 2009Larry Jensen Born in 1952 in Owen Sound and raised in a neighborhood historically and somewhat affectionately known as “Mud Town”. Larry (aka “Lars”) spent his boyhood days in a rich playground of ships, coal piles, lumber yards, cattle sheds, railway tracks and long freight trains. With these images ingrained, he picked up a guitar at age 14 and shortly thereafter began a life long passion for songwriting. His sense of place both geographical and biographical are quite prevalent in his “local songs” and all have pictures that are recognizable if you’re from here or more importantly someplace just like here. |

July 12, 2009Juanita Wilkins Juanita's songwriting reflects her eclectic tastes in music - thoughtfully, and often humourously, exploring relationships, world events, the human condition, and, especially close to her heart, the lives of the women and men who work the farms in her rural neighbourhood in Wellington County. In August of 2008, Juanita was the surprise hit of Summerfolk in Owen Sound, and although a newcomer to the Folk Festival Circuit, was invited to close the show, sharing the last song of the final concert with Canadian Folk great Connie Kaldor. Juanita's dedication to live music shows in all aspects of her life, whether it be performing herself, or organizing live music events for others. Juanita is proud of her "Rural Roots"! |
