  • Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Site to Close for the Season  

    Beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 13, the Owen Sound Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Site, located at 2450 28th Avenue East, will be closed for the season. The site will remain closed until early April when spring weather permits easy access. 

  • Notice of Complete Application and Public Meeting - ZBA No. 54

    Take notice that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound has received an application for a Zoning By-law Amendment, being an application to amend Comprehensive Zoning By-law 2010-078, as amended pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended (the “Planning Act”) for lands located at 1750 16th Avenue East. This application is deemed to be a complete submission under Section 34(10.4) of the Planning Act.

    Take notice that the Council of The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound will hold a public meeting to consider Zoning By-law Amendment No. 54 on January 27, 2025 at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City of Owen Sound, in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act.

  • Public Notice: January Corporate Services Committee Meeting Cancelled

    Please be advised that the Corporate Services Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, January 16th, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. has been cancelled.

    The next Corporate Services Committee meeting will be held Thursday, February 6th, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

  • Significant Weather Event Declared

    Due to the impact of current and forecast weather conditions on the City’s road and sidewalk infrastructure, the City of Owen Sound has declared a Significant Weather Event that will remain in effect until further notice.

  • Tom Thomson Art Gallery Exhibition Spaces to Temporarily Close for HVAC Replacement

    The exhibition spaces at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery will be closed starting January 6, 2025, for a planned replacement of aging HVAC systems. Exhibition spaces are expected to re-open in late March / early April with three new shows.

  • Public Notice of Intention to Pass Amendment to the Fees and Charges By-law

    Please be advised that The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound intends to adopt an amendment to Fees and Charges By-law No. 2024-078, in accordance with subsection 391(1) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25.

    The Fees and Charges By-law is being updated to:

    • A Non-Resident Fee review for Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse January 1, 2025: 
      • The 2025 season for Non-Resident Membership Fee to be reduced from $100+HST to $50+HST.
  • Honouring Former Owen Sound Mayor, Stew Taylor

    It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that the City of Owen Sound acknowledges the passing of Stew Taylor, a cherished former Mayor and dedicated public servant who passed away on December 20 at the age of 77 leaving behind a remarkable legacy of leadership and commitment to our community.

  • Changes to Owen Sound Transit Fares and Routes for 2025 
    Owen Sound Transit (OST) is making changes to its transit system effective January 2025, including updates to fare structures and a pilot project involving a route change. These amendments aim to improve transit options while maintaining affordability for residents.

  • Owen Sound Announces Major Park Renewal Project in Partnership with Scenic City Order of Good Cheer at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park

    The City of Owen Sound is thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer to revitalize and enhance the playground and splash pad facilities at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park. 

    This collaboration promises substantial community benefits, focusing on inclusivity and renewed recreational spaces for residents and visitors alike. 

    The $500,000 total project will completely replace the existing playground and renew the existing splash pad, addressing critical asset renewal needs.  It will include fully replacing the current playground, which is 25+ years old, as well as revitalizing the 15-year-old splash pad.  The project is scheduled for design in 2025 and construction in 2026.
