The City of Owen Sound is inviting residents who want to make an impact in their community to get involved with local governing boards and committees.
Ten positions are available on various City boards and committees. Persons wishing to serve as a member of a board or committee are invited to submit an application to the Deputy Clerk.
City staff will be installing the seasonal Noma cross-street lights and removing the banners along Second Avenue East on Thursday and Friday, closing one block at a time to minimize the disruption to visitors and businesses in the River District.
Please be advised that the River District Board of Management (RDBM) intends to hold a Public Meeting respecting the 2025 River District budget.
To better align with shorter daylight hours at this time of year, Owen Sound’s Leaf and Yard Waste site will close daily at 5 p.m. starting on Monday, November 4, 2024. It will still open for daily use to Owen Sound, Georgian Bluffs and Meaford residents at 8:30 a.m.
Owen Sound is pleased to announce the upcoming Future Owen Sound — Vision 2050 strategic planning sessions. These sessions will be held at various times from November 8th to November 10th at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre (Shore Room 2), 1900 3rd Avenue East in Owen Sound.
All community stakeholders, such as young families, business owners, not-for-profit workers, elders and students, are invited to register for and attend the strategic planning sessions.
Each session will address a priority established through the inclusive and comprehensive strategic planning survey process.
Please be advised that the Tom Thomson Art Gallery Advisory Committee will hold a special meeting regarding fundraising on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library Auditorium from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The City of Owen Sound will be closing 6th Avenue West between 9th St A West and 9th St West for sewer repairs starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23rd. This closure is needed to keep everyone safe and allow the work to be completed efficiently.
Parkview Park and the Bruce Side Trail from the Fitness Trail in Harrison Park to Parkview Park will be closed on Tuesday, October 22, Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday, October 24, for urgent ash tree removals. All trees being removed are infected by the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The park and trail will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25.
The City of Owen Sound has completed the annual fire hydrant flushing program. Thank you to all residents for their patience while this program took place. Yearly fire hydrant flushing ensures they are operational and improves water quality.
The City of Owen Sound is set to host an in-person Community Open House on Thursday, November 7, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bayshore Community Centre. This event is a come-and-go evening that offers residents a unique opportunity to engage directly with city staff and learn about the essential services that impact their daily lives and share your ideas about our services with Staff.
