The City of Owen Sound is pleased to announce its support for the transformative initiative to develop the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Basin into a leading example of a blue-green economic corridor. 

The City of Owen Sound will be performing sidewalk pressure washing and street sweeping operations in the River District on Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3 starting at 4 a.m. each day. 

Council has given the green light to a pilot project fostering collaboration between the City of Owen Sound and the Township of Georgian Bluffs, enabling us to jointly manage Building Services.

On Saturday, May 4, the River District will host the inaugural Brightshores Ball Hockey “Cellybration,” a 3-on-3 Ball Hockey Tournament in support of local healthcare.

Construction on the 900 block of 1st Avenue East (from the north entrance at 10th Street East to the north side of The Sydenham Condominium building) as part of the Downtown River Precinct (DRP) Phase 2 is set to begin this week and is scheduled to end in September 2024.

Today, Owen Sound Council unanimously approved a new 10-year Lease Agreement with the Owen Sound Attack (Club) that will see the Club continue to call Owen Sound and the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre home. 

Sections of 2^nd Avenue East will be closed between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday, April 29, and Tuesday, April 30, to accommodate the installation of seasonal banners in the River District.

At the April 17 Community Services Committee meeting, City Staff presented a city-wide development update, providing a background on the status of the approvals process for certain development applications including subdivisions, site plan applications, and policy amendments such as the Official Plan or zoning amendments.

Over the next few weeks, you may notice several improvement projects taking place at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
