The Tom Thomson Art Gallery has partnered with Coffin Ridge for another remarkable evening of wine, food, and live music at the Winery on Friday, September 6. The event, titled A Deadly Pairing, includes 10 tasting stations, live music by Higher FunKtion, live and silent auctions, a cash bar, and famous Coffin Ridge pizza for late-night nibbling.
It’s nearly time for Labour Day weekend, and the City is reminding everyone of facility closures, modified hours, and alternate programming.
On Sunday, August 25, 2024 at approximately 12:30PM, Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a structure fire with heavy smoke coming from a 2nd floor window in the 1000 block of 6th Ave W.
Cause of fire is due to a clothes dryer malfunction. No injuries occurred as a result of the fire. Residents are reminded to clean your lint trap and dryer vents regularly.
Service requests or concerns can be submitted for various City services online. By visiting OwenSound.ca/ReportAConcern, issues and by-law complaints can be directed to the appropriate staff for tracking and follow-up purposes.
Please note that the September meeting of the Strategic Planning Ad Hoc Committee has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
With the 2024 Salmon Spectacular event beginning soon, residents and visitors are reminded boat launch passes can be easily and conveniently purchased online, as well as camping at the Kelso Beach at Nawash Park Campground can also be booked online through the City’s Tourism website or directly through the City’s online Facility Booking portal here.
Representatives from the City of Owen Sound are attending the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in Ottawa from August 18 through August 21, 2024.
More than 2,500 participants from hundreds of municipalities and organizations across Ontario are attending the conference, which serves as a critical platform for municipal and provincial officials to address pressing challenges that extend beyond municipal resources and responsibilities.
The Council of The Corporation of the City of Owen Sound intends to pass a by-law to govern the proceedings of Council and Committees (the “Procedural By-law”) in accordance with section 238 of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25.
The by-law will replace Procedural By-law No. 2021-123 and will incorporate multiple staff recommendations from staff report CR-24-077, as approved by the Corporate Services Committee and City Council.
Another Household Hazardous Waste Day event is taking place this Saturday, August 17! The event will be held at the Public Works Facility (1900 20th Street East) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Owen Sound is pleased to announce the City’s grant application was approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure and will receive provincial grant funding of $1,758,662 to support water main improvements at 32nd Street East and East Bayshore Road. This project will enhance the water system and facilitate the residential development of 712 units of new purpose-built rental housing in the City.
